A Child's Smile - Guest Post

One of my dearest friends, Heidi, was kind enough to share her precious boy with me today. I asked if she'd do a guest post and (after much nagging) she agreed!! :D

Sometimes you just have to let them have a silly one to get a good one! ;)

They say the smile of a child is a treasure to behold........but sometimes you have to let them be kooky before you can capture that smile on film! I treasure my little man......and he treasures his kitty! Sometimes it's so easy to make them so happy!

Wildflowers

Wow... one post last year... way to be appreciative, NOT! :S It's an excuse to say life got too busy and in the way, so I'm not going to go there and just wipe the slate clean.

Over the last few days, little wildflowers have been popping up in the grass patches outside our work building. It's such a pleasure to see these tiny flashes of color on the way in and to be reminded about how beautiful life is.

A Child's Laugh

Is there anything more wondrous and carefree than the happy laugh of a child?

We were over at my cousin's for dinner last Saturday, and her hubby, Ian, was telling us that their little boy, Russell, is starting to bang his head when he gets upset. Ian proceeded to demonstrate this to us by holding on the the sides of the table and 'banging' his head against the table top three times.

Russell, who was sitting in his high chair next to his dad, got this look of pure and utter joy in his face. His little dimples flashed, his little teeth glinted, his mouth opened wide and he laughed and laughed and laughed! It was a sound of such pure, unadulterated joy that we couldn't help laugh right along.

This morning, on the way to work, hubby and I were talking about it, and I would venture to say that this is something we will remember forever. I only wish we had recorded it so that I could share that joy with you.

Bonnet House

You know what’s a pleasure?

Going somewhere that is completely outside of your daily existence.

The difference may be as simple as an estate house, bright and colorful,
with perfectly sculpted gardens.

Or it may lie at the edge of a pond, so clear
you can see the bottom even as it falls away from you.

Perhaps, it is in the treasures you spot tucked away in a corner somewhere.

Or, in that chance encounter, coming across the mated pair of swans
just as a groundskeeper drives up to feed them.

Yes, that might be it.

Or...

Homecooked Food

One of my greatest pleasure in life is food. I can talk about it, think about it, browse about it, dream about it, and first and foremost enjoy eating it. (Thank God for my high metabolism.)

I'm blessed that two wonderful cooks, my mom and mother-in-law, have taught me so much, which makes possible for many a fine meal to be cooked at home, and is evident in this meal of curry chicken, assam prawns, aloo gobhi, naan (courtesy of my cousin), and rice.

Of course, the ultimate is when the mommies visit, because that just means I can do all the eating and very little of the cooking! LOL.

A Glorious Sunset

Is there anything as breathtaking as a sunset? I can almost hear the day issuing a last 'hurrah' as it gives in to the night. In this Floridian sunset in March, it is as if the the winter months are saying "goodbye," as they coax these glorious colors from the sky to herald in the Spring.
